Alexis Soul-Gray
b. 1980
Alexis Soul-Gray lives and works in Devon, UK. She graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design with a Foundation Diploma (2000) and went on to study at Camberwell College of Art (2003), the London Arts Consortium (2006), the Royal Drawing School (2007) and finally the Royal College of Art between 2021- 2023 where she earned her MA in Painting.
Soul-Gray has dealt with themes of motherhood, grief, nostalgia and nature. She works across painting, assemblage and printmaking, traditionally exploring loss and trauma. Using ephemera such as books, postcards and magazines, Soul-Gray has also employed repurposed materials as a way to work through the past and lost years, ultimately reckoning with the idealised and false images that define our visual culture.
Soul-Gray’s artworks have recently been exhibited at The Arts Club, Mi Art Fair and William Hine Gallery. She has also completed multiple residencies, namely at Devon’s Exeter Phoenix Gallery and Dumfries House in Scotland. Upcoming solo exhibitions to be held in Paris’s Bremond Capela Gallery and Oslo’s Eiklid Rusten Gallery.
