
Bruce LaBruce

Bruce LaBruce is a Canadian artist, writer, filmmaker, photographer and underground director known for exploring themes of sexual and interpersonal transgression against cultural norms, often blending the artistic and production techniques of independent film with gay pornography.
LaBruce is based in Toronto but works internationally. He studied film at York University in Toronto and has frequently been identified with the New Queer Cinema movement that emerged in the 1990s, but has personally aligned himself with the queercore movement that was born in the 1980s.
LaBruce’s notable works include Otto; or Up with Dead People, which debuted at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival; L.A. Zombie which was banned from the Melbourne International Film Festival in 2010; and his more sexually explicit film Gerontophilia from 2013. More recently, his film The Visitor was selected in the Panorama section at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival.
