Dean JF Hoy
b. 1996
Dean JF Hoy is a London-based artist working between sculpture, film and photography. His ongoing soft sculptural project is titled Bears Who Care.
Hoy’s work explores care on personal and cultural levels. Raised in British suburbia, he developed a connection with nature and storytelling with the mundane. By reviving discarded soft toys, whether left on the roadside or in antique store bins, he reflects on human neglect, aiming to foster environmental and spiritual care.
Hoy is currently a resident at the Sarabande Foundation (23/24) and has exhibited at selected shows including ‘Welcome to the Island of Misfit Toys’ at Soup Gallery, London (2024); ‘Bäckahästen’ at Kruger Collective, Stockholm (2024); ‘Perpetual Chrysalis’ at Murmurs Gallery, LA (2024); ‘BECOMING’ at M.Goldstein, London (2024); ‘Welcome to my Crib’ at Guts Gallery, London (2024); PHOTO London at Somerset House (2024); and ‘Beast Shelter’ at Save-Our-Souls, Stockholm (2023). Hoy has also collaborated on special projects with Dover Street Market and Heaven by Marc Jacobs.
