Dominique Fung

Chinese-Canadian painter Dominique Fung was born in Ottawa and currently lives and works in Brooklyn. She received her BAA from the Sheridan College Institute of Technology in Toronto in 2009.

Fung has a strong interest in shedding light on overlooked or forgotten stories and infuses specific historical artifacts with living qualities and complex non-linear narrative paths. She subverts the visual language of the European Orientalists, mining them or formal techniques and sampling their visual language of sublimity and illusion, before transforming them into vast, fantastical dreamscapes filled with eerie transformations and fleshy, feminine contortions.

Fung has exhibited extensively in group and solo exhibitions worldwide and is represented by Massimo de Carlo.
