Ed Atkins

b. 1982

British artist Ed Atkins is best known for his video art and poetry and has been referred to as “one of the great artists of our time” by the Swiss curator Hans-Ulrich Obrist. He studied at Central Saint Martins and the Slade School of Fine Art. He currently lives and works in Cophenhagen.

Atkins has spent the last two decades at the forefront of digital art, creating humourous and unsettling videos and CGI work. He works predominantly in high-definition video, drawing and writing to explore notions of materiality and corporeality, often combining film, text, sound and paintings to create dream-like environments.

Atkins has had solo exhibitions at the Tate Britain, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Chisenhale Gallery, MoMA PS1, the Serpentine Gallery, Palais de Tokyo, Kunsthalle Zürich, and more.
