Dan Guthrie is an artist who has been on our radar ever since Harriet’s trip to Stroud back in February to visit Stroud’s ‘racist clock’ – the subject of Dan’s new commission ‘Empty Alcove / Rotting Figure’. Last week, the installation was shown at Chisenhale Gallery after its debut at Bristol’s Spike Island, and is Dan’s first institutional exhibition in London. We sent photographer Jay Izzard down to capture the crowd for the opening of Dan’s quietly charged show, which confronts representations (and misrepresentations) of Black Britishness. Were you snapped?
