Anna Weyant
b. 1995
Born in Calgary, Anna Weyant is a Canadian painter who lives and works in New York City. She studied her BFA in Painting at the Rhode Island School of Design before studying painting at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou.
Described by the Wall Street Journal as the “millennial Botticelli”, she has been represented by the Gagosian since 2022. Weyant is renowned for her distinctive depictions of feminine bodies, disrupting notions of femininity and beauty. Uncanny and dreamlike, Weyant displays a tension beneath the immediate surface of her paintings.
Recent solo shows include ‘Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolves?’, Gagosian, London, (2024); ‘The Guitar Man’, Gagosian, Paris, (2023) and ‘Baby, It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over’, Gagosian, New York, (2022).
