Guglielmo Castelli

b. 1987

Italian artist Guglielmo Castelli lives and works in Turin, Italy. Known for his distinctively muddied palette of greens, browns and burnt yellows, Castelli’s paintings often depict strange, beguiling figures in varying states of play, dance or solitary reflection. He also works with sculpture and mixed-media assemblage, with figures sometimes appearing in three dimensions, to resemble surreal puppets or dioramas, which recall the artist’s background in stage design.

His works are housed in the collections of Blenheim Art Foundation, Woodstock, UK; By Art Matters Museum, Hangzhou, China; Castello di Rivoli Museum d’Arte Contemporanea, Rivoli, Italy; Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin, Italy; He Art Museum, Foshan, China; Long Museum, Stony Brook, New York, NY, USA; Marciano Art Foundation, Los Angeles, CA, USA; Ostillo Collection, Austin, TX, USA; Samdani Art Foundation, Dhaka, Bangladesh; The George Economou Collection, Marousi, Greece and Yuz Museum, Shanghai, China.
