Juliana Huxtable

Juliana Huxtable is an artist, writer, DJ, performer and co-founder of the New York–based nightlife project Shock Value. Huxtable was born in Texas and moved to New York to attend Bard College, graduating in 2010. She currently lives and works in New York.
Huxtable’s multidisciplinary practice probes dormant and marginalised histories, narratives and technologies to challenge discourses around contemporary perceptions of identity, futurity and politics. Huxtable uses a diverse range of means to engage these issues, including self-portraiture, text-based prints, performance, nightlife, music, writing and social media.
Huxtable’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at MoMA PS1, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; MOCA, Los Angeles; Serpentine Gallery, London; the Berlin Biennale; Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Madrid; Freedman Fitzpatrick, Paris; Astrup Fearnley Museum, Oslo; Athens Municipality Art Center, Athens; Abdellia Palace, Tunis; and many others.
