Sergey Kononov
b. 1994
Sergey Kononov is a Ukrainian artist, currently based in Paris. Studying at the Art College of Odesa and the in 2013, at the Odesa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Kononov developed a training that focused on traditional forms of Ukrainian academic painting.
Kononov’s work focuses on bodily depictions, often consisting of multiple subjects that subsequently present meditations on friendship and intimate details of human relationships. Carrying a yellow hue as a motif throughout his work, Kononov renders his subjects loosely, often with backgrounds and details of clothing and tattoos that nod to an interest in youth culture.
Kononov exhibited in solo shows the Museum of Modern Art, Odesa as well as Galerie Lazarew, Paris and at Jeremy Scholar, London.
