Zineb Sedira

Zineb Sedira is a London-based Franco-Algerian feminist photographer and video artist. She was born in Paris in 1963. She received her BA in Critical Fine Art Practice from Central Saint Martins School of Art in 1996, her Master of Fine Art in Media from Slade School of Art in 1997 and completed her research studies in the Photography department at the Royal College of Art in 2003. She currently works between Paris, Algiers and London.
Sedira is best known for her work exploring the human relationship to geography. Her practice spans fiction, documentary and more poetic approaches. Working across installation, photography, film, video and object-making, Sedira aims to preserve and transmit past memories in order to forge a legacy for the future.
Her works are housed in public collections at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston; Tate collection, London; Guggenheim, New York; Deutsche Bank Collection, Frankfurt; Centre Pompidou, Musée national d’art moderne, Paris; Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow Museums; Mathaf – Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha and many others.
