Jamian Juliano-Villani

b. 1987

American painter Jamian Juliano-Villani was born in Newark, New Jersey and now lives and works in New York. She received her BFA from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, New Jersey.

Her work shows an affection for contemporary visual culture, informed by the lengthy history of representational painting. Drawing on an array of references from movies and memes to stock photography and art history, her uncanny and evocative paintings blend chaos and vibrancy to reflect on the pandemonium of everyday life.

Her work is housed in the public collections of the Brooklyn Museum, New York; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; High Museum of Art, Atlanta; The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York and Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.
