Prem Sahib

b. 1982

Prem Sahib approaches their practice as a carefully considered display of poignant abstraction and charged conceptualism. Working mostly in sculpture and installation, Sahib’s contrivance is the utilisation of space as a mechanism to amplify artworks – work inhabits space, space inhabits work. Themes of gender, sexuality, club culture and political climates oscillate through Prem’s practice with maximal consideration to refined objects.

Sahib studied BA Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art (2006), MA Material and Visual Culture at University College of London (2008) and went on to study at the Royal Academy Schools graduating in 2013.

Sahib’s recent shows include ‘The Life Cycle of a Flea’, Phillida Reid, London (2023); ‘forms of the surrounding futures’, Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art, Gothenburg (2023); ‘EVERYTHING BROKEN DOWN’, Solid Haus Kunsthalle, Melton (2023); ‘Recent Acquisitions and Eternal Loves – Part I’, Nicoletta Fiorucci Collection, Monaco (2023; ‘Liquid Gold’, Southard Reid, London (2022); ‘Semi Permanent Interventions’, Magic Stop, Lausanne (2022); ‘Burner Phone Hex’, Ridley Road Project Space, London (2022).
